House [Balo] in Barcelona
House [Balo] - apartment building, built in 1877 for the textile magnate [Zhozepa] [Balo]- and -[Kasanovasa] according to the address: [Passech]- de -[Grasia], 43 in [Eshample] region, Barcelona and reconstructed by architect Antonio [Gaudi] in 1904-1906.
Without having still finished work on the building of the park Of [guelya], [Gaudi] obtained order for the alteration of the rental housing unit, which belongs to rich textile manufacturer [Zhozep]'s family [Balo]- and -[Kasanovas] and [Amale] located on the proximity with the modernist house. The owner of house intended to lay the old building of 1875 and to construct at his place new, but [Gaudi] he solved otherwise.
After preserving the initial structure of the house, which adjoins by lateral walls two adjacent buildings, [Gaudi] designed two new facades. Main facade leaves to the avenue Of passeig de Of gracia, rear - inside the block. Furthermore, [Gaudi] completely re-planned the ground floor and first floor, after creating for them original furniture, and added basement floor, garret and [asoteyu] (stepped terrace of roof). Two light shafts were united into the united internal court, which made it possible to improve daylight illumination and ventilation of building. The idea of giving to the light court of special importance, for the first time realized in the house [Balo], was used [Gaudi] and in the course of the building of house it was dear.
Many researchers of the creation Of [gaudi] recognize that the reconstruction of house [Balo] is the beginning of the new creative stage of the master: from this project the architectural solutions Of [gaudi] will be dictated exclusively by its own plastic vision without the caution to the known architectural styles.
The most remarkable special feature of house [Balo] is the practically complete absence in its formulation of straight lines. Wavy outlines are manifested both in the decorative components of facade, carved from the [tesannogo] stone, obtained on the [barselonskom] hill Of [monzhuik], and in the formulation of interior. There are many interpretations of the symbolism of main facade, but, apparently, most correct is the interpretation of building as the figures of gigantic dragon - [izlyublenogo] character Of [gaudi], who appears in his many creations. The victory of the patron of Catalonia SV of Georgiy above the dragon can be the allegory of the victory of good above the evil. The sword SV of Georgiy, [vonzennyy] into “the ridge of dragon”, is in the form the turret, crowned by Georgievskiy cross, the facade of building depicts the sparkling “scale” of monster and [useyan] as the bones and “the skulls” of its victims, that guess in the forms of the columns of first floor and balconies.
